FIRST FRIENDS PRESCHOOL AM DAILY SCHEDULE

9:00 Arrival, hang up names, question of the day (Pre-K), put away coats and backpacks.

"Choosing time". Children may choose from a variety of open-ended centers - toys, games, manipulatives, doll corner, playdough, cars and trucks, art table, computer, sandbox, puppets, etc. Lots of spontaneous conversation, learning from others, exploring and experimenting, pretending, creativity, and relaxed fun takes place during this time, as well as much language development and appropriate social interaction. This is the preschooler’s “work”!

Art/craft projects-involves creativity, a sense of accomplishment in completing a project, use of scissors, glue, paints, markers, etc. Printing first names for those who are ready. Lots of incidental learning goes on during this time, as we discuss the colors, shapes, numbers, we are working with.

Clean up time-everybody helps! We sing our clean-up song to make it more fun! Flag song led by the flag holder-this is always a favorite job! Outdoor play, weather permitting, or indoor, active games, dancing, or movement activities.

“Grouptime" on the shape carpet includes calendar and weather discussion, thinking skills, sight reading and spelling first names, "survival skills" - learning your own age, address, birthday, “Show & Tell” on Thursdays and Fridays.

Snacktime provides an opportunity to learn to set the table, serve a snack to others and use good table manners. It’s also a nice, relaxed time for socializing, visiting and starting to feel like a close-knit group of friends.

Toothbrushing.

Table clean-up and “Booktime” when children explore picture books on their own, we sing and explore musical instruments and Teacher Vicki shares a story with the class.

"Workjobs”, “Math Tubs”, Cooking, “Apple Groups” and “Science Table” will be added in each month for our Pre-K classes. When we end our day, we get our coats on, put our projects and mail into our back packs and Teacher Vicki makes a few announcements about our next day’s plans.

11:30 Dismissal to parents-please wait outside to meet your child. This enables me to closely monitor each child’s departure and helps the children to get their things together and listen for instructions without distractions.
